Subject: Shadow Woman
I've had encounters with a shadow people, and with ghosts. I could tell a few stories, but perhaps I'll share the one that has been with me the longest, and has made me weary of the dark even at the age of 37. Most of the stories about shadow people seem to be of a male influence...yet my story is of a shadow person of a female influence. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, in a house that we were the first occupants of. I was 4 or 5 years old with a room of my own.
My parents made me sleep with my door closed, sometimes even locked, until they knew I was asleep, and then they would unlock my door. I use to wake in the middle of the night with the need to use the bathroom. I was terrified of the dark due to some other events... so getting up out of bed in that pitch black room was never easy, and then once I came back to my room.. I'd look around the room and flick off the lights only break into a run and then jump into my bed, to cover myself with the covers.
This one night I woke up, and had to pee. I made it to the bathroom, came back to my room... had to re-close my bedroom door to avoid a spanking from my parents in the morning and from there, I stood in my closed room with the lights on. I scanned the room carefully; everything was as it should be. I gauged how far the bed was from where I was so once I flicked the lights off, I could do my run, and jump into the bed. Once confident of my impending run and leap, I counted to 5 just as I was turning off the lights. When the lights went out, I could see the silhouette of both my bedroom windows fine and I started to break into a run in the direction of my bed. I didn’t go more than a couple steps when, all of a sudden, I found myself in a grey clouded tunnel. I could no longer see the silhouettes of my bedroom windows or make out the silhouette of any furniture, all I saw was the grey mist around me making a tunnel. I was terrified. I was 4 or 5 years old. At the end of the tunnel, I saw the silhouette of a figure that, as I looked at it, seemed to change to resemble the figure of a woman.
Out of fear and need, I started to feel relieved and the thought was placed in my head that this was my mother so I started to run to the figure, which seemed like a much farther run than the length of my room and as if in slow motion. As I neared the figure, I noticed she had a feather standing from the top of her head and seemed to be wearing a Native American dress. I also felt a more menacing presence as I came closer to her. The closer I came to her, the worse I felt. Then she lifted her arms out to me as if to embrace me, and as she did this, I felt so terrified. I can't even express how scared I felt. I then whispered a little prayer I was taught to say when I was scared, "Devil get thee behind me in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen".
I said those words and as I did, I felt comforted and heard a gentle benevolent voice in my head, that told me to walk through the figure. (The menacing figure who still had her arms out to embrace me.) I was really scared. I walked closer to the shadow woman, and just to be sure, said, “Momma?” No response, just those open arms and that bad vibe.
That's when I said my little prayer again, took a breath to muster up what courage I could, and walked through her. As soon as I did, the room was normal again, no grey mist.
I could see the silhouette of my furniture, and of my bedroom windows... everything was gone and normal. Needless to say, I jumped into my bed and kept the sheets over my head every night for months after that event, always terrified of seeing the shadow woman again. I also had more night time accidents (peeing in bed due to my fear to get up at night and coming back to the shadow woman.)
I had other experiences in that house and then we moved when I was 10. In that house I had all new experiences… but with a shadow man. Anyway, that's my story.
